FREE & Fun Family Events to Attend this Summer in Philadelphia
At Happy Teeth, we love to hear all about the fun stuff our patients are doing this summer. We understand it can be a lot of work to keep the kids entertained without spending a fortune. Well, don’t worry. Happy Teeth Levittown to the rescue! Below we have compiled a list of a few of the activities that we don’t think you’ll want to miss out on.
PHILLY’S AWESOME NEW ELEVATED RAIL PARK OPENS JUNE 14:
The greening of Philadelphia continues as the first phase of the Rail Park gets an official opening date just in time for the start of the summer season. On Thursday, June 14, a quarter-mile stretch of new urban greenspace opens to the public where the Reading Railroad once ran. Visitors can enjoy lush plants and trees, public art by local artists, plenty of seating and space for gathering, bench-style swings and first-rate elevated city views.
BLUE CROSS RIVERRINK SUMMERFEST:
A five-minute walk from Spruce Street Harbor Park, Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest offers a roller rink, a boathouse-styled lodge, a play area for kids, carnival-style fun, food and drink options and events throughout the summer season. Entrance to the park is free and open to the public. Roller skating, mini-golf, games, rides and concessions are pay-as-you-go.
MOVIE NIGHTS AT THE SCHMIDT’S COMMONS:
Free movie nights on the outdoor Jumbotron at The Schmidt’s Commons in Northern Liberties are offered all season long. Screenings this year include Pitch Perfect 3, The Greatest Showman, Coco, Spiderman: Homecoming and more.
EAST PASSYUNK CAR SHOW & STREET FESTIVAL:
A tribute to South Philly’s sock-hoppin’ heritage, the East Passyunk Car Show & Street Festival brings together revelers, food, music and some of the hottest classic American cars ever seen. Admission to the festival is free, just pay for food and drinks as you go. (Jul 29)
PECO MULTICULTURAL SERIES:
The PECO Multicultural Series on the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing celebrates the diverse cultures that make Philadelphia a distinct city. The free festival series includes the Islamic Heritage Festival (June 16), the Philadelphia Irish Festival (June 24), Hispanic Fiesta (July 7-8), and Brazilian Day Philadelphia (September 9), among others.
BROADWAY PHILADELPHIA PRESENTS ALADDIN:
The shining, shimmering, splendid Broadway stage adaptation of the hit Disney film Aladdin soars into Philly this June for a limited time. (June 13 – July 1, 2018).
